Eritrea has the most amazing scenery to admire and if you’d like to get up close and personal with it, you can try hiking, mountain biking and rock climbing, though you’ll need to bring your own bike and equipment as it’s not possible to hire it. In the city of Asmara, architecture lovers will be delighted with the stunning art deco buildings, mansions and villas in different styles, and the city is beautifully clean. Explore the Enda Mariam Orthodox Cathedral, the Former Governor's Palace and the National Museum, or shop till you drop in the Central Market. Dine on a variety of dishes, such as spicy stews with beef, fish or chicken, and enjoy seafood, too. Eritrea also has Italian influences and uses pasta widely, including for Pasta al Sugo e Berbere (pasta with tomato sauce and spice). If you like a drink, try suwa, the local mead, or Araqi, the Eritrean form of Sambuca.
