Travel to much of Nigeria is not advised due to ethnic tensions, and Islamist groups like Boko Haram. If you must travel, keep abreast of the situation at all times and exercise caution. Also, note that homosexuality is illegal in Nigeria so avoid public displays of affection. In Nigeria, you’ll find a variety of things to do and some beautiful scenery to explore. Yankari National Park is the perfect place to see the local wildlife, with buffaloes, hyenas, leopards, waterbucks, baboons and lions, on occasion. Lekki Conservation Centre has raised walkways so you can view a variety of birds, crocodiles and monkeys, and you can also visit the conservation centre and its library. If you’re more of a beach bunny, you can’t go wrong with Eleko Beach in Lagos. Rent a beach hut and explore the art market, while you’re there. For the cultural side of Nigeria, explore Terra Kulture, a bookshop, art gallery and restaurant all in one, or visit the National Museum and craft centre, or the African Artists' Foundation.
