It’s only fitting that the largest continent on Earth is also its most populous. A staggering 44.6 million square kilometres in area, Asia accounts for around 30 percent of land on the planet.
From the Black Sea to the west and the central Asian nations that span from it, to Japan’s Pacific coast, the true scale of the continent is mind-boggling. The Himalayas run like a back bone through the heart of Asia while economic giants India and China sandwich between them a plethora of smaller, culturally diverse east Asian nations.
The home of modern civilisation, Asian traditions and customs produced the society we know today, and the ancient monuments that dot the continent are testament to this heritage. And then of course, there is the food.
